Ingredients
- 8 small to medium Granny Smith or Gala apples
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup light corn syrup
- 3/4 cup water
- 1/2 teaspoon red gel or liquid food coloring
- 3 ounces white chocolate
- 1 teaspoon coconut oil
- 1/8 teaspoon cream of tartar
- 8 wooden sticks
Instructions
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and insert wooden sticks into each apple.
- In a saucepan, combine sugar, corn syrup, water, and cream of tartar. Stir until mixed.
- Heat over medium heat until boiling; attach a candy thermometer.
- Once it reaches 250°F, add food coloring and swirl gently.
- Continue heating until the mixture reaches 300°F; remove from heat.
- Quickly dip each apple into the hot candy coating and place on the prepared baking sheet.
- Allow to set for about 10 minutes.
- Melt white chocolate with coconut oil in a microwave-safe bowl and drizzle over cooled apples.
- Let set for another 10 minutes before serving.
