- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 1 cup light corn syrup
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/2 teaspoon red food coloring
- 8 wooden sticks
Instructions
- Prepare your workspace by lining a baking sheet with parchment paper or spraying it with nonstick cooking spray.
- Insert wooden sticks firmly into the stem ends of each apple.
- In a heavy-bottomed saucepan, combine sugar, corn syrup, and water. Stir until mixed and bring to a boil over medium-high heat without stirring.
- Attach a candy thermometer and boil until the mixture reaches 300°F (about 15-20 minutes).
- Remove from heat and carefully stir in red food coloring.
- Quickly dip each apple into the hot candy mixture, allowing excess to drip off before placing on the prepared baking sheet.
- Let cool completely at room temperature for about 15 minutes before serving.
