  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 8 tbsp unsalted butter for sauce
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar for sauce
  • 1 cup cream for sauce
  • 1 cup milk for sauce
  • 200g dark chocolate for sauce
  • 1/2 tsp salt for sauce

Instructions

  1. Soak chopped medjool dates in boiling water for about 10 minutes until softened.
  2. In a mixing bowl, cream together softened butter and brown sugar. Add eggs one at a time and mix well. Stir in vanilla.
  3. Mix dry ingredients: flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in another bowl. Gradually combine with wet mixture while alternating with boiling milk. Fold in soaked dates along with their soaking water.
  4. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease your baking dish and pour in the batter. Bake for approximately 25 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  5. For the sauce, melt butter, brown sugar, cream, and milk in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir in dark chocolate until smooth.
  6. Drizzle warm sauce over pudding slices before serving.
