Ingredients
- ¾ cup unsalted butter (softened)
- ¾ cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- ½ teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon cream of tartar
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup patriotic M&Ms
- ½ cup red and white sprinkles
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F. Line a 9” round cake pan with foil and spray with nonstick cooking spray.
- In a mixing bowl, cream together softened butter and granulated sugar until smooth. Add egg and vanilla; mix well.
- Stir in baking soda, salt, and cream of tartar. Gradually add flour until combined.
- Gently fold in M&Ms and sprinkles using a spatula.
- Spread batter evenly in the prepared pan; press additional M&Ms on top if desired. Bake for 19-22 minutes until edges are golden brown.
- Allow the cake to cool completely before frosting.
