  • Total Time: 18 minutes
  • Yield: Serves 4

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 head iceberg lettuce, chopped
  • 1/2 pound ground beef, cooked and seasoned (or ground turkey or plant-based beef)
  • 1 medium tomato, diced
  • 1/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup diced pickles
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons yellow mustard
  • 1 tablespoon sweet pickle relish
  • 1 teaspoon white vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Add 1/2 pound ground beef and cook for 6–8 minutes. Break it up with a spatula as it browns. Season with salt and pepper. Drain excess fat and set aside to cool slightly.
  2. Chop iceberg lettuce into bite-sized pieces. Dice tomato, finely chop onion and pickles, and shred cheddar cheese. Toss all these ingredients in a large mixing bowl.
  3. In a small bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, yellow mustard, sweet pickle relish, white vinegar, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper. Adjust seasonings according to your taste preferences.
  4. Add cooked ground beef to the bowl with veggies and cheese. Pour special sauce over everything. Toss gently but thoroughly to coat evenly.
  5. Divide salad onto plates or bowls. Optionally sprinkle extra shredded cheese or pickle slices on top. Serve immediately for best crunch and flavor.
