- 2¼ cups all-purpose flour

- 1 teaspoon apple pie spice
- ¾ teaspoon ground cloves

Instructions
- In a stand mixer, beat together butter, sugars, and salts until light and fluffy.
- Add the egg and molasses; mix until well combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk flour and spices together.
- Gradually incorporate dry ingredients into wet mixture on low speed; mix until just combined.
- Divide dough in half; roll each half out to ⅜-inch thick between parchment paper. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Cut cookies into desired shapes and place on prepared baking sheets.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are lightly browned.
- Cool on a rack before decorating.
