- ⅔ cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- ¼ teaspoon kosher salt
- ¾ cup unsalted butter (room temperature)
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon almond extract
- 3 large eggs (room temperature)
- 1 cup finely ground almond flour
- ⅓ cup sliced almonds
- ⅓ cup honey (for simple syrup)
- ⅓ cup water
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease an 8” cake pan and line it with parchment paper.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Cream the room temperature butter and sugar using a stand mixer or hand mixer on medium speed until light and fluffy.
- Add the vanilla extract and almond extract. Gradually mix in the whisked eggs until fully combined.
- On low speed, add the dry ingredients until just incorporated. Gently fold in the almond flour by hand.
- Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and sprinkle sliced almonds on top.
- Bake for 28-35 minutes or until lightly golden and a toothpick inserted comes out with moist crumbs.
- While the cake bakes, prepare honey simple syrup by heating honey and water in a saucepan until mixed.
- Once baked, let cool slightly before transferring to a wire rack and pouring warm syrup over it.
