  • Total Time: 50 minutes
  • Yield: Approximately 12 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • ⅔ cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon kosher salt
  • ¾ cup unsalted butter (room temperature)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract
  • 3 large eggs (room temperature)
  • 1 cup finely ground almond flour
  • ⅓ cup sliced almonds
  • ⅓ cup honey (for simple syrup)
  • ⅓ cup water

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease an 8” cake pan and line it with parchment paper.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Cream the room temperature butter and sugar using a stand mixer or hand mixer on medium speed until light and fluffy.
  4. Add the vanilla extract and almond extract. Gradually mix in the whisked eggs until fully combined.
  5. On low speed, add the dry ingredients until just incorporated. Gently fold in the almond flour by hand.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and sprinkle sliced almonds on top.
  7. Bake for 28-35 minutes or until lightly golden and a toothpick inserted comes out with moist crumbs.
  8. While the cake bakes, prepare honey simple syrup by heating honey and water in a saucepan until mixed.
  9. Once baked, let cool slightly before transferring to a wire rack and pouring warm syrup over it.
