  • 1 cup low carb marinara sauce (sugar-free)
  • 1 cup bell peppers, chopped
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 cup sliced olives (optional)
  • 1/2 cup sliced mushrooms (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and prepare a large baking dish with nonstick spray.
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef or turkey until fully cooked; drain excess fat and season with salt, pepper, and half of the Italian seasoning.
  3. Add chopped bell peppers and sliced mushrooms to the skillet; stir until heated through.
  4. In the prepared baking dish, layer half of the marinara sauce, followed by half of the meat mixture and half of the mozzarella cheese. Repeat these layers.
  5. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes, removing foil during the last five minutes for a golden top.
