- 5–6 cups powdered sugar, sifted
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt
- 1–2 tablespoons heavy cream (optional for fluffier texture)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare cake pans by greasing and lining them.
- Sift together flour, baking soda, salt, and cocoa powder in a large bowl.
- In another bowl, whisk vegetable oil, buttermilk, eggs, red food coloring, vanilla extract, and vinegar until smooth.
- Gradually combine wet and dry ingredients without overmixing.
- Divide the batter into prepared pans and bake for 28-35 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool in pans before transferring to wire racks.
- For the frosting, beat softened butter and cream cheese until creamy; add powdered sugar gradually along with vanilla extract.
- Frost the cooled cake layers generously and decorate as desired.
