- 2 lbs ground beef or turkey
- 1 small onion, diced
- 1 green bell pepper, diced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 cans diced tomatoes (14.5 oz each)
- 1 can tomato sauce (15 oz)
- 2 cups beef broth
- 2 cans kidney beans (15 oz each), drained and rinsed
- 1 can pinto beans (15 oz), drained and rinsed
- 2–3 tbsp chili powder
- 1 tsp cumin
- 1 tsp paprika
- ½ tsp cayenne pepper (optional)
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Prepare vegetables by dicing the onion and bell pepper and mincing the garlic.
- In a large pot over medium heat, cook the ground beef or turkey until browned. Drain excess fat.
- Add onion, bell pepper, and garlic; sauté for about 5 minutes until softened.
- Stir in diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, beef broth, kidney beans, pinto beans, and spices.
- Bring to a boil; reduce heat to low and simmer for about 45 minutes.
- Serve hot with preferred toppings such as shredded cheese or avocado slices.
