  • 2 cups sliced sweet potatoes (about 2 small sweet potatoes)
  • 3 cups crushed tomatoes
  • 3 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 2 teaspoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 teaspoons salt (divided)
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons rubbed sage (divided)
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

  • 12 cans kidney beans (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large pot over medium heat, add olive oil and sauté the diced apples, sliced carrots, and sliced sweet potatoes with onion powder, garlic powder, salt, pepper, rubbed sage, cinnamon, and nutmeg for about 5 minutes.
  2. Add ground turkey to the pot and cook until browned (5-7 minutes).
  3. Stir in tomato paste, chili powder, additional salt and sage. Mix well.
  4. Incorporate both crushed tomatoes and strained tomatoes; simmer on low-medium heat for 20-30 minutes. If using kidney beans, add them towards the end.
