  4. Knead the dough by hand for about 10 minutes or with a stand mixer for about 5 minutes until smooth.
  5. Divide dough into portions; let rest while covered with a tea towel.
  6. Color one portion black and another red, kneading each until colored fully.
  7. Let rise in a warm area until doubled in size (about 1.5 hours).
  8. Punch down dough, shape it into layers, and place it in a greased loaf pan.
  9. Allow it to rise again for about an hour before baking at 375°F (190°C) for approximately 30 minutes.
