- 500 ml Whole Milk (or almond/soy milk)
- 1 whole Vanilla Pod (or extract)
- 30 g Cornstarch
- 100 g Mini Chocolate Chips
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, and salt. Dissolve yeast in warm milk; add to dry ingredients with eggs and knead until smooth. Incorporate room temperature butter.
- Cover dough and let rise in a warm area for about 2 hours until doubled in size.
- For the custard, heat milk with vanilla seeds and half the sugar until steaming. Whisk remaining sugar, egg yolks, and cornstarch; gradually add hot milk. Cook until thickened, then cool.
- Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F). Punch down risen dough, portion it out, flatten each piece, fill with custard and chocolate chips, fold to seal.
- Place on baking sheet and bake for about 12 minutes until golden brown.
