Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 225°F (110°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a clean mixing bowl, beat the egg whites on medium speed until foamy; add cream of tartar.
- Gradually add sugar one tablespoon at a time while beating on high speed until stiff peaks form.
- Gently mix in vanilla extract.
- Divide the meringue into bowls if using multiple colors; fold in gel food coloring until desired shades are reached.
- Transfer meringue into a piping bag fitted with a star tip and pipe small swirls onto the prepared baking sheet.
- Optionally sprinkle pastel decorations on top before baking.
- Bake for 60 minutes; then turn off the oven and let the meringues sit for another hour to dry completely.
- Cool fully before serving.
